DO ALIENS REALLY EXIST?

We have found that scientists do belive that aliens have visited earth and they have been making strange formed shapes in crop fields. They also believe they have taking cows from their fields and killing them .We found that the area 51 has been known for a lot of strange sightings such as aliens. And as some say, they have seen alien space crafts being shot out of the sky.

One of the hangar guards at an old military base said he felt a crashed alien saucer. He said it felt like a piece of tin foil. They say there has also been many sightings of alien space crafts near Puerto Rico.

Unidentified flying objects spaceships or flying saucers are any unexplained flying objects assumed to be from outer space. They are only seen in a glimpse and are usually hidden from human eyes. There are many who speculate that aliens do not really exist and in reality, they must indeed exist. If one would think about it, "is it really possible that out of millions and millions of stars out there, Earth is the only planet in the solar system to be blessed with life?".

UFO's are believed to carry aliens who come to the planet Earth in search of intelligent lifeforms for the use of study and possible manipulation. Some believe that they are extracting information from mankind so that they can one day take over the Earth and rule the planet. Others believe that they are a few surviving aliens from other worlds that were previously destroyed and are looking for a place to live.

The definition of UFOs, flying saucers & Spaceships are any unexplained flying objects assumed to be from outer space. They are only seen in a glimpse and are usually hidden from human eyes.

Michael Shawn Hickenbottom(born July 22, 1965),better known by his ring name Shawn Michaels, is an American professional wrestler. He performs on the Raw brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Currently, Hickenbottom is one of the senior performers in WWE, having joined in 1987. He is one of only two wrestlers (the other being The Undertaker) to have appeared on the very first episode of Monday Night Raw who are still with the company today.

Before joining WWE, Hickenbottom began his wrestling career with Mid-South Wrestling and American Wrestling Association (AWA). There, Hickenbottom partnered up with Marty Jannetty to form The Midnight Rockers and won the AWA World Tag Team Championship on two separate occasions. Hickenbottom and Jannetty then signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), while in contract with AWA. They returned to AWA, only to go back to the WWF in 1988.

After signing with WWF, Hickenbottom abandoned the tag team division to work in singles matches and received a new gimmick as "The Heartbreak Kid". He was alleged to be the leader of a backstage group known as The Clique, which was known for breaking character during the Madison Square Garden "Curtain Call" incident in 1996. The following year, Hickenbottom joined forces with Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna to form D-Generation X (DX). This stable was known for pushing the envelope. That same year, Hickenbottom took part in the most controversial match in wrestling history dubbed as the "Montreal Screwjob". After a crippling back injury forced him to retire following his WWF Championship loss at WrestleMania XIV, Hickenbottom opened a wrestling academy, in which he trained upcoming wrestlers.Hickenbottom made his in-ring return at SummerSlam in 2002. In 2006, Hickenbottom and Triple H briefly reformed DX.

Overall, Hickenbottom is a four-time world champion: a three-time WWE Champion, and a one-time World Heavyweight Champion. He was also the winner of the 1995 and 1996 Royal Rumbles and was the first Grand Slam Champion.

The basic idea is pretty simple -- when you place your finger or a stylus on the screen, it changes the state that the device is monitoring. In screens that rely on sound or light waves, your finger physically blocks or reflects some of the waves. Capacitive touch-screens use a layer of capacitive material to hold an electrical charge; touching the screen changes the amount of charge at a specific point of contact. In resistive screens, the pressure from your finger causes conductive and resistive layers of circuitry to touch each other, changing the circuits' resistance.

Most of the time, these systems are good at detecting the location of exactly one touch. If you try to touch the screen in several places at once, the results can be erratic. Some screens simply disregard all touches after the first one. Others can detect simultaneous touches, but their software can't calculate the location of each one accurately. There are several reasons for this, including:

  • Many systems detect changes along an axis or in a specific direction instead of at each point on the screen.
  • Some screens rely on system-wide averages to determine touch locations.
  • Some systems take measurements by first establishing a baseline. When you touch the screen, you create a new baseline. Adding another touch causes the system to take a measurement using the wrong baseline as a starting point.
Basic touchscreen technology

The Apple iPhone is different -- many of the elements of its multi-touch user interface require you to touch multiple points on the screen simultaneously. For example, you can zoom in to Web pages or pictures by placing your thumb and finger on the screen and spreading them apart. To zoom back out, you can pinch your thumb and finger together. The iPhone's touch screen is able to respond to both touch points and their movements simultaneously. We'll look at exactly how the iPhone does this in the next section.

Multi-touch Systems

To allow people to use touch commands that require multiple fingers, the iPhone uses a new arrangement of existing technology. Its touch-sensitive screen includes a layer of capacitive material, just like many other touch-screens. However, the iPhone's capacitors are arranged according to a coordinate system. Its circuitry can sense changes at each point along the grid. In other words, every point on the grid generates its own signal when touched and relays that signal to the iPhone's processor. This allows the phone to determine the location and movement of simultaneous touches in multiple locations. Because of its reliance on this capacitive material, the iPhone works only if you touch it with your fingertip -- it won't work if you use a stylus or wear non-conductive gloves.

Mutual capacitance touch-screen
A mutual capacitance touch-screen contains a grid of sensing lines and driving lines to determine where the user is touching.
Self capacitance screen
A self capacitance screen contains sensing circuits
and electrodes to determine
where a user is touching.

The iPhone's screen detects touch through one of two methods: Mutual capacitance or self capacitance. In mutual capacitance, the capacitive circuitry requires two distinct layers of material. One houses driving lines, which carry current, and other houses sensing lines, which detect the current at nodes. Self capacitance uses one layer of individual electrodes connected with capacitance-sensing circuitry.

Interpreting Touch-location Data

The iPhone's processor and software are central to correctly interpreting input from the touch-screen. The capacitive material sends raw touch-location data to the iPhone's processor. The processor uses software located in the iPhone's memory to interpret the raw data as commands andgestures. Here's what happens:

  1. Signals travel from the touch screen to the processor as electrical impulses.
  2. The processor uses software to analyze the data and determine the features of each touch. This includes size, shape and location of the affected area on the screen. If necessary, the processor arranges touches with similar features into groups. If you move your finger, the processor calculates the difference between the starting point and ending point of your touch.
iPhone touch sensing
  1. The processor uses its gesture-interpretation software to determine which gesture you made. It combines your physical movement with information about which application you were using and what the application was doing when you touched the screen.
  2. The processor relays your instructions to the program in use. If necessary, it also sends commands to the iPhone's screen and other hardware. If the raw data doesn't match any applicable gestures or commands, the iPhone disregards it as an extraneous touch.
The iPhone's processor and sensor

All these steps happen in an instant -- you see changes in the screen based on your input almost instantly. This process allows you to access and use all of the iPhone's applications with your fingers. We'll look at these programs and the iPhone's other features in more detail in the next section, as well as how the iPhone's cost measures up to its abilities. Both of these possible setups send touch data as electrical impulses.

There are more.

The leadership in various countries during WWII was a vast and talented group.

In the USA, the President was Roosevelt. Elected four times, he was a larger than life figure. Roosevelt came from old family money. He exuded confidence. He was smart enough to know to stay out of the way of major military and economic planning and let the experts handle matters.

Under him, a team of great leaders flourished. Many books have been written about any one of these men - Kaiser, Patton, MacArthur, Nimitz, Marshall, Eisenhower, and many others.

Germany, too, had many men of great leadership ability. Certainly Hitler had this quality. He was the dominant political figure on earth prior to the war. His personality generated mass will on the part of the German people to overcome their enemies.

Under him, Germany had many great leaders in the persons of Speer, Goering, Himler, Leeb, Manstein, Guderian, Doenitz, Rommel, and many others.

Russia had fewer great leaders. Stalin was the overall dictator that determined production figures, military manuevers, etc. Due to his personal insecurities, a large array of national leaders never developed in the USSR. Certainly there were a few such as Zhukov, but he was the exception. So paranoid was Stalin that even this national hero was shuttled off to an early obscure pension after the war. Of course, Uncle Joe Stalin was beloved or at least trusted by almost all the leaders of the world outside of Germany.

Britain produced few great leaders in the war. Churchill certainly had the speaking ability and personal charisma to lead but he lacked judgement. He chose to side with Stalin over Hitler, even when offered a chance, a chance that would have enabled the British to maintain their world leadership position. Churchill's meddling in military affairs is notorious but probably no worse overall than the leadership provided by his generals. Montgomery was the best he had during the war and 'Monty' wouldn't have led a battalion in the German army. Beyond those two I can think of no one of great importance produced by the English.

China had two towering figures - Chang Kai Shek and Mao. These two both became major world leaders after the war.

Japan had a few great leaders - Yamamato was possibly the finest carrier officer in the Japanese navy. He was obviously no match for Nimitz, though. Tojo had quality leadership characteristics.

Italy had Mussolini - the most senior in position of all these men. His star passed before the others and he was swept from the scene before the end of the conflict. Otherwise Italy had not one great army, navy, or economic leader.

Tito led the combined Yugoslavian partisan forces with great effectiveness. So great was his leadership that he was able to hold this artificially created nation together for many decades after the war - all while keeping the Soviets at arms length, despite his close political ties to the USSR.

Life in a village is viewed through the eyes of Apu and Durga, two young children of an impoverished Brahmin poet-priest, Harihar and his wife, Sarbojaya. Life is hard and the old aunt who stays with them is a further burden. One day Apu and Durga return home to find her dead in a bamboo grove. After the funeral Harihar leaves for the city in search of a job. The monsoon arrives and Durga dances exultantly in the downpour while Apu watches. She develops pneumonia and dies. Harihar returns home and the family decide to leave for Benares.

The filmPather Panchali is perhaps the greatest Indian film ever made and was the film that really put India on the international film map. The film, Satyajit Ray's directorial debut, was over three years in the making due to unceasing financial burden. Finally the film was completed with the help of the West Bengal Government. The film went on to win a special prize at Cannes for 'Best Human Document.' To quote Lindsay Anderson in the Observer

"You cannot make films like this in a studio nor for money. Satyajit Ray has worked with humility and complete dedication; he has gone down on his knees in the dust. And his film has the quality of intimate, unforgettable experience."

Thus began a sequence of events that was to place Ray almost at once among the great directors of the world and launching his extraordinary career.

The film was based on a widely read novel of the same name by Bibhuti Bhushan Banerjee. Ray preserves the essential qualities of the novel yet enhances their impact with his vision. In a tradition going back to Robert Flaherty and the Italian neo-realists, Ray uses natural backgrounds and mainly non-actors. But even then he is able to turn even seemingly mundane events into momentous experience as when Durga and Apu are held spellbound by a humming telegraph phone or the sight of an approaching train in the film's most memorable sequence.

The look of the film almost poetic in nature was due to the efforts of the cinematographer, Subrata Mitra. A much-admired still photographer, Pather Panchali was his first film and Mitra does an absolutely stunning job with his evocative compositions. The music was done by Ravi Shankar and is another highlight of the film. The sequence of Harihar being told of Durga's death is taken to great heights by the splendid use of music rather than dialogue and is one of the most touching and unforgettable moments in the film. Although outdoor locations were shot 10-12 miles from Calcutta, much of the indoor work was finally done in a Calcutta studio and perfectly matched to the exterior. In fact, special mention must be made of Bansi Chandragupta's absolutely wonderful art direction. The sets were constructed outdoors and for the first time all notions of artificiality were discarded in creating filmic décor – the outdoor sets of village huts, the costumes, the everyday utensils, the furniture, the pictures of gods and goddesses and other props looked extremely genuine and perfectly in synch with the characters' milieu and habits and more importantly matched perfectly with the ethos of lyrical realism inherent in Pather Panchali. Another pioneering facet of this classic film was that perhaps for the first time in India that sets, costumes and props were designed keeping in mind aspects of camera movement, choice of lenses and the tonal variations in terms of black and white cinematography.

There are several unforgettable sequences in the film. One of the most lyrical passages in the film is the onset of the monsoon bringing hope, joy and new life. The first rain drops fall on the shining bald plate of an angler, the water hyacinths in the pond, the trees in the field. The momentum slowly builds drawing Durga to her dance in the rain. But as the storm rises in ferocity, it turns destructive threatening the foundations of their dilapidated house and ultimately Durga's life.

An interesting aside - Though an unqualified masterpiece, highly placed Government officials frowned on the film depicting India's poverty and thus damaging India's international image even as the Central Government officially rejoiced over the success of the film! The film ran for 13 whole weeks in Calcutta. Most important, backers were now ready to back Ray's subsequent films.

The two following films Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959) completing the Apu trilogy following Apu into adulthood and marriage while having their memorable moments and in spite of much tighter cinematic construction however lack the simplicity and poetic quality of Pather Panchali. But still the trilogy as a whole has the rhythm and flow of life and Aparajito did win the 'Lionne d'Ore' at Venice in a jury presided by the great Rene Clair.

Lindsay Lohan has been axed from an upcoming film about Charles Manson - reportedly because no one else would sign up to star alongside her.

Lohan's rep today insisted the actress had 'passed up' the role.

Spokeswoman Leslie Sloane said Lohan passed the Manson film up in order to accept two other offers, including a guest star turn on the TV comedy Ugly Betty.

The actress was due to star in the independent movie The Manson Girls - playing Nancy Pitman, one of the cult followers of the notorious Manson who was convicted of seven counts of murder in 1971 - but was dropped after other actors refused to work alongside her.

The 21-year-old actress signed up for the movie in March and was due to start shooting in Los Angeles in July.

Manson masterminded a series of gruesome murders including that of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, the then-wife of director Roman Polanski. He is now 73 and serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in jail.

Nancy Pitman - who was known as Brenda when she was part of the 'Manson Family', the nickname given to his followers - ran away from her wealthy family home in Malibu, California, at the age of 16 to be with Manson.

While she didn't participate in the murders, she is believed to have accompanied Manson to the scene of the crime afterwards to help remove evidence.

Lindsay has hit the headlines more for her partying, drinking and alleged drug taking than her acting work recently. Her last big screen outing, I Know Who Killed Me was a box office flop.

She was publicly criticised by bosses on Georgia Rule after a string of absences during filming.

James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions who made the movie, issued an open letter to her saying: "You and your representatives have told us that your various late arrivals and absences from the set have been the result of illness. We are well aware that your ongoing all night heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called 'exhaustion'."

No girls should feel safe! Stick to the main roads, avoid dirt tracks, and when in your house, make sure that all windows and doors are locked. (The police) have no idea of the amount of rapes (of foreign tourists) in Goa... take care! Spread the word." - This is from a pamphlet titled "Rape Alert", displayed by Western tourists at Goa beachside restaurants.
If you're one of the 30,000 odd foreign tourists visiting Goa at this time of the year, you might run into this notice pinned on the thatched walls of the "Goodluck" beach-shack restaurant on the sands of Baga beach.
Last fortnight, the Goa police took the problem of rising beach crime seriously, as never before.
But this came after two young Swedish women were gang raped by seven to eight men at Anjuna, the Mecca of backpack and hippy tourists in South Asia. They were returning home after a late-night beach-party. Their bike was stopped by assailants armed with sticks and knives. A male companion was forced at knife-point to witness the gang-rape. All were robbed of money and possession. But this case, which sent the local police into a tizzy, is only the shocking tip of a long-ignored iceberg. Crime is turning into the new growth-industry along parts of the North Goa beach belt. It is coming in alongside prosperity brought in by the booming tourism sector there over the past decade.
Everyone seems to think the Western tourist's affluence is out for grabs. Literally. Constable Digambar Naik was weeks ago suspended over the theft of 500 pound sterling from the baggage of two Britons at Goa's airport. Last month, Panaji police nabbed two Gujaratis for stealing the belongings of foreigners travelling to Goa by bus.
Many crimes go unreported. But recorded crimes indicate the range: An Andhra-Goa gang busted while looting foreign tourists in the Calangute-Anjuna belt last April. A Briton was nabbed trying to collect Rs 3.5 million worth of cocaine posted from Colombia. Extortion cases by criminals and, if one believes the tourists, even by men in uniform.
Some support for this view comes from strange quarters: the local leader of Bal Thackeray's Shiv Sena. Local Sena village leader Camilo D'Souza, some time back, wrote to chief minister Pratapsing Rane warning him about theft, housebreaking and extortion taking root in the capital of hippy-Goa. "Unidentified persons posing as policemen have been collecting huge amounts from tourists as 'baksheesh'," D'Souza added.
Goa Inspector-General of Police PRS Brar points to the speedy police action on arresting suspects in the Swede gangrape case. He dismisses the view other crime often directed again, foreign tourists is growing fast. "If you wear a diamond ring and leave it on the dressing table, which police can stop it from being stolen," asks Brar.
But real life can be more bizarre. One year back, a group of local boys, allegedly playing nude on the Sinquerim beach, tried to molest a foreigner while she was fishing. Local youngsters have gone on rampages against Kashmiri vendors, resettled in the area, using any pretext to grab their goods, this correspondent was told by reliable quarters.
Statistics recently blew the lid to indicate that something was going drastically wrong. Figures revealed that in the 1995-96 tourist season, over two dozen foreign tourists had died in Goa, in a spell of under six months. Nearly 13 had died of overdoses of narcotics or liquor.
"Leave aside the tourists, even fisherfolk in Calangute, who once slept soundly on the shore, are afraid of moving about in their own land," says village parish priest Fr. Jose Dias. "This is frustration. There's no money any longer in tourism (in Goa, compared to the past few years)", reasons Jude Miranda, whose family runs a pay-phone booth and stores at Baga, frequented by foreign tourists. Clearly, the downswing some see overtaking Goa's decade-old charter tourism sector is breeding desperation. Besides, too many businesses have opened up, bringing in more to fight over the pie.
In one case, for instance, tourist-taxi operators beat up a Kashmiri vendor because they felt he was undercutting them. Some bus tour-operators have recently complained that their passengers are being coerced into eating at certain restaurants. In the Calangute police station, this correspondent met a European woman tourist complaining that the lodge owner was compelling her to stay on longer than she wished, threatening to hold back her possessions otherwise.
There are other hints to show that it's no longer just business as usual: On January 7, a 33-year-old Briton was raped at Anjuna by two unidentified persons, including her taxi driver. The rapists stole her purse too. Each of the half-dozen North Goa Coastal villages which attract the bulk of the foreign visitors are distinct. Sinquerim, dominated by up-market tourists, doesn't often report such crime. Tight security ensures that even journalists entering a luxury hotel on a two-wheeler might be halted to face questions.
At the other end - both geographically and otherwise - is Anjuna-Vagator. Here, the three-decades old hippy-tourist monopoly is slowly but surely giving way to a commercialised circuit, throwing up a potent mix. Big business and the state government want to replace the low-budget tourists around with big-spenders. But villagers say they gain most from those who depend on the simple life of their rustic economy.
Baga and Calangute, former fishing villages sandwiched in the midst of this belt, face crime directed against tourists and related problems. Calangute villagers complain of local protection rackets, links between politicians and dubious organisations whose activities verge on the semi-legal, and land-grabs by builders in an area where tourism has sparked an uncontrolled building boom.
Some argue though that the crime along the beach belt is not all that new. Police officials dismissively say some foreign tourists report thefts of belongings to claim insurance back home. But Goa Speaker Tomazinho Cardozo calls for firm governmental action "otherwise the tourists will feel insecure". He recalls how in his Coastal constituency at Ximer-Candolim, some young boys raped a tourist, some years ago, but they were not brought to book. IG-P Brar retorts that it's hard to follow up such crime too. For instance, one Danish girl was raped. Police offered to pay for her passage stay in Goa, but she opted not to get involved in India's time-consuming legal system. He warns the same could happen in the latest Swedish case.
But Rosy Fernandes, who rents accommodation to foreign tourists, has another story to tell. Two Frenchmen there were robbed twice. In one case, the elderly womenfolk were too afraid to intervene. Another time, the tourists woke up in the morning to find a part of their roof missing, along with cameras, radios and even their shoes.
'Foreign tourists have been harassed a lot. Both by thieves and by the police," says another Anjuna villager, seeking anonymity for obvious reasons. Local medical practitioner Dr.Jawaharlal Henriques concurs: "In other areas, the Police presence is reassuring. In Anjuna, it seems to be just the opposite."
"I want to spend my holiday in peace, not going to courts," says Danish TV-2 journalist Frants Pandal, explaining why few complaints are made to the police. He says the police are not widely trusted, and foreign tourists believe some have resorted to "planting" of narcotics to extort sums of $500. Pandal's friend, Danish musician Frank E. got almost killed. He woke up a week back to find six to seven persons holding a knife to his throat at Badem-Anjuna. Just then, some of his friends turned up, making the robbers flee, says Pandal, a Goa regular since 1969 who is having second thoughts on coming back.
Goa's Tourist Police are ill-equipped. "They are only there to shoo away the hawkers," complains Roland Martins. His citizens' group, the JGF, critical of Goa's tourism policy for a decade, sees "strong hints" of political patronage to the crime.
Ms. Zuma Suzama of Croatia and Steinhaus Ralf of Frankfurt says tourists "talk a lot" about crime on the beach. But other foreign tourists don't think much of the problem. "Most people we met are satisfied. They are here because they like Goa," said a woman, declining to mention her name, who is part of a former Christian Ashram that now runs a library for tourists in Anjuna.
Teddy Nunes feels otherwise. "The growing crime is a recent trend. It will definitely affect tourism," says this educationist whose family runs a mini-supermarket at the lively former hippy-haunt of Anjuna. Behind him are posters seeking information about a missing Swiss tourist, and announcing the departure of an overland bus leaving Goa for Europe.
John Lobo, who runs a popular "shack", concurs. He feels that Goa's image as a licentious place has been so widely propagated that foreign women tourists walking alone face a serious threat of being molested. "Many cases go unreported," says he.
Add Shiv Sena's Camilo D'Souza: "People come here for sunbathing. They don't come to give you (some perverse pleasure). If you want that, go to Baina (the sleazy and distant red-light quarter of Goa.)
But one beach-belt constable commented: "They're (leading licentious lives) all the time... then some complain of rape. Police who effected the arrests won't even get monetary rewards, but just a favourable comment in their service records." It is anyone's guess, whether such attitudes will take crime-solvers far.

Bollywood film director Prabhakar Shukla confirmed that he’s planning to make a film called Rave Party about the recent rape and murder of British teenager Scarlett Keeling in Goa, though denied his movie will be only about the 15 year old’s killing. “Goa is a tourist paradise, but I want to show the darker side of the popular tourist spot. People like watching reality; so I have decided to show reality in my film,” he told Indian website ThaIndian.com. “I will surely show the corrupt officers in the film. But I will also show how the drug mafia exploits tourists and what happens at rave parties,” he promised.

Kuselan, the Tamil remake of Malayalam Katha Parayumbol is getting ready with super star in the lead role directed by P Vasu. Though Rajini has been commenting that his role is only 25% in the film, director Vasu has been modifying the Tamil script to suit the image of super star and to cater to his fans.

Kuselan

Previously when Then Maavin Kombathu got remade into Muthu, there were apt alterations done and a similar situation prevailed even in Chandramukhi inspired from Mani Chithirathazh.

Meanwhile director Priyadarshan is taking Katha Parayumbol to Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan doing Rajini’s role. However Priyadarshan has no plans to change the Malayalam version and is keen on retaining the original flavor unlike Kuselan. While discussing this, an experienced distributor of NSC region said that though Kuselan would definitely be a hit, Shah Rukh may sweep away with honors in terms of performance as the Hindi version is slated to play in line with the original.

Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1998 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

After recording two private EPs and a demo CD named Origin, with the help of Bigwig Enterprises in 2000, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 15 million copies worldwide and helped the band win two Grammy Awards.A year later, Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, which sold more than one million copies worldwide. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which has sold more than four million copies.

The band has suffered departures, including co-founder Moody in 2003 and guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007; Lee is now the only original member of Evanescence.

Evanescence was founded by singer, pianist and songwriter Amy Lee and former lead guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody. The two met in 1994 at a youth camp in Little Rock, where Moody heard Lee playing "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" by Meat Loaf on the piano.Their first songs together were "Solitude" and "Give Unto Me", both written by Lee, and "Understanding" and "My Immortal", both written by Moody. The songs were edited by both artists, and they shared equal credit.

Two of Lee and Moody's songs found playtime on local radio stations, raising local awareness of the group and demand for a concert. The band eventually appeared live, and became one of the most popular acts in the area. After experimenting with band names, such as Childish Intentions and Stricken, they decided on Evanescence, which means "disappearance" or "fading away" (from the word evanesce, which means "to disappear"). Lee has stated she loves the name because "it is mysterious and dark, and places a picture in the listeners' mind."

Their first full-length demo CD, Origin (released in 2000), is relatively unknown. The band also released two EPs. The first is the self-titled Evanescence EP (1998), of which about 100 copies were made. The second is the Sound Asleep EP, also known as the Whisper EP (1999), which was limited to 50 copies. Origin and the EPs contain demo versions of some of the songs on their debut album, Fallen. For example, the recording of "My Immortal", found on Fallen, can also be found on Origin, minus a handful of additional string accompaniments. Only 2,500 copies of this record were produced; in response, Lee and Moody encouraged fans to download the band's older songs from the Internet due to their concerns that fans may be scammed into buying overpriced counterfeit copies of the original EPs

Hyderabad has a rich culinary history inspired by Mughlai cooking that has evolved for over hundreds of years. Famous for its hot and spicy cuisine, Hyderabad is never complete without a taste of the Shah.

The Dastarkhan, or the dining place where the food is served and eaten is normally a low chowki (table) with mattresses and bolsters that provide seating in the traditional Indian style. Traditional delicacies of Hyderabad that have been inherited from the Nizams are predominantly meat-based and cooked with a liberal use of exotic spices. Hyderabadi cuisine features key flavors of coconut, tamarind, peanuts and sesame seeds and sometimes even fresh fruit.

The Shahi Dastarkhan includes such mouth-watering delicacies as Osmani Murg Korma, Paneer Aur Ananas Ka Korma, Mirchi Ka Salaan, and the well-known Nahari, a dish is made from lamb trotters. However, the one dish that has been written about, even by travellers during the 18th century who visited this city, is the aromatic Biryani.

And so to celebrate my 100th blog post, let me serve some (virtual) biryani to readers! Note: Biryani picture by Vijay Pandey.

BiryaniBiryani is a fragrant rice dish made from a mixture of spices, long-grained Basmati rice, meat and yogurt. The name is derived from the Farsi word birian. Based on the name, and the cooking style (dum, explained later), it appears that the dish originated in Persia or Arabia. While some think it came from Persia via Afghanistan to north India, others think it was brought by the Arab traders via the Arabian Sea to Calicut, which had maritime trade with West Asia.

Besides the historical facts, the biryani's story gets a bit spiced up with legends. One has it that Timor 'the Lame' brought it down from Kazakhstan via Afghanistan to north India. According to another fable, Mumtaz Mahal created this dish as a wholesome meal to feed the Mughal emperor's army. From the Mughals, the biryani spread to the Nizam's kitchens in Hyderabad, as it did to Awadh (now Lucknow) and Calcutta.

BiryaniWhen Aurangzeb installed the Nawab of Arcot to oversee Aaru Kaadu region south of Hyderabad, he unwittingly led to the creation of the Arcot biryani. The biryani also spread to Mysore thanks to Tipu Sultan. Needless to say it was a royal dish of the nawabs and nizams. These worthies hired vegetarian Hindus as bookkeepers, which led to the creation of the tahiri biryani (a vegetarian version).

To me 'authentic' biryani, and the one I crave the most, is the dum-pukht variety with Hyderabadi or Awadhi influence. Dum means steam and dum pukht literally means to choke off the steam. The food is placed in a pot, usually made of clay, and dough is used to create a tight seal to prevent steam from escaping. The food is slowly cooked in its own juices and steam, allowing herbs and spices to fully infuse the meat or rice, preserving the nutritional elements at the same time. In the best biryanis, grains of rice are well-cooked yet do not stick to one another. The meat, usually on the shank, is soft, well marinated and enhances the heady aroma of Basmati and the spices. I like my biryanis best with raita, onion rings and mint chutney.

Hyderabadi biryani is traditionally made with uncooked, marinated lamb (kacche gosht). It is layered at the bottom of a pan with rice in various stages of 'doneness' -- the topmost is more pre-cooked than the rice nearest the meat which is only 25 percent cooked. The point is to have perfectly cooked meat with flavourful rice, preferably in the same dish, although there are some versions of biryani in which the two ingredients are browned and cooked separately.

The Lucknowi biryani is made from stock, and not water. The meat is first sauteed and then cooked separately. The rice is later cooked in the same stock. This precludes the concept of Kachhe Ghosht ke biryani. Like someone described very aptly, while Hyderabadi biryani has top notes and middle notes, Lucknowi biryani owes its success to a homogenous blend of spices, so that no single one predominates.

Charminar HyderabadThere is an interesting story to the biryani from Calcutta (or Kolkata as the city is known today). When cooks from the Nawab's kitchen fled to Kolkata in 1857, they arrived here with their biryani recipes which then evolved to create its own distinct identity. Kolkata biryani is far spicier than its other cousins, and distinguishes itself by its use of potatoes which absorbs the stock and spices during the cooking process. However, robustness rather than delicacy defines this biryani.

What is less known are the southern cousins of the biryani. Vishy Shenoy, who has cronicled the spread of the biryani, describes the many varieties available:

The fish and prawn Biryani which is unique to Kerala. In Tamil Nadu, you have the Ranipet Biryani and the Dindigul Curry Biryani (which was painstakingly prepared for President Bill Clinton when he visited India) from the Erode and Tirupur area. The Kangayam Catering College has documented and archived the Dindigul Biryani. "These varieties use a shorter grain of rice," he says.

On the Western Coast, you have the Calicut Biryani and the Bhatkali Biryani, the recipe for which has come through the spice route and it has a Yemeni/Irani flavour. The North-West Frontier offers the Sindhi Biryani and the Kutchi Biryani, which is also called the Memoni Biryani. Kashmiris use asafoetida in Biryani, which is unique, and all the ingredients are marinated overnight.

For those who wish to taste the best biryani in Delhi, I recommend Dum Pukht at The Maurya for a great experience. For those in Pune, Sigree is the best option. For the really adventurous foodie, there are many good restaurants and biryani shops located in the winding gullies (alleys) of Lucknow, Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad. Check with a local; you won't find these places listed anywhere else.

Actress Lindsay Lohan, working to rebuild her acting career after a year of personal turmoil, will appear as a guest star on the ABC television comedy "Ugly Betty," the network said on Monday.

Lohan, who has not starred in a feature film since last year's flop "I Know Who Killed Me," will join the popular sitcom's cast for six episodes, playing a mean former classmate of title character Betty, who suddenly resurfaces in her life.

The 21-year-old actress, who won critical praise and international stardom before lurid stories in the tabloid press began to overshadow her career, will make her first appearance on "Ugly Betty" on the May 22 season finale.

She will return to the Emmy-winning show, which stars America Ferrera as a smart and sweet but not-so-glamorous fashion magazine employee, for five episodes next season.

Lohan's turn on the small screen closely follows a similar move by another troubled young performer, Britney Spears, who surprised critics and delighted fans with a sassy guest appearance on the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."

Spears' well-received acting role was taken as a sign that she had begun to recover from the personal problems that have dogged her in recent years, and Lohan's could be seen in the same light.

Lohan began her acting career at a young age and first won attention playing twins -- one of them with a dead-on British accent -- in the 1998 remake "The Parent Trap."

She became a Hollywood "it-girl" and major international presence after starring in such films as "Freaky Friday," "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and "Mean Girls" before giving way to struggles with alcohol and drug abuse.

She spent much of 2007 out of the Hollywood limelight and in rehab and has in recent months has been spotted less in nightclubs and in the gossip pages.

Lohan's 14-year-old sister, Ali, meanwhile, is preparing to shoot her big-screen debut in a film based on R.L. Stine's pre-teen book series "Mostly Ghostly."

Thiruvalluvar (Tamil: திருவள்ளுவர்) is a celebrated Tamil poet who wrote the Thirukkural, a well known ethical work in Tamil literature. He is claimed by both the Tamils who practice Hinduism and the Tamils who practice Jainism as their own.[1] Nevertheless, some consider him as a Jain showing internal textual evidence from Thirukural.[2]
The statue of Tiruvalluar at Kanyakumari
The statue of Tiruvalluar at Kanyakumari

Thiruvalluvar's period (based on the Thirukkural per se) is between the second century BC and the eighth century AD. [3]

Both Thiruvalluvar's faith and identity are disputed. His disputed identity includes a low-caste Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, crypto-Christian, high-caste Hindu, Brahmin, half-Brahmin [4], and Sengunthar (weaver descent).

There are little or no clues available to trace Thiruvalluvar's background. However, according to one of the legends, Valluvar was the son of a Brahmin father(Bhagavan) and an 'untouchable' mother (Adi). Further, it is said that he was abandoned as a child to be picked up by a Vellala (high non-Brahmin, landowning caste) woman who named him 'Tiru-Valluvar'. Following objections by her neighbours, the Vellala woman too abandoned Valluvar to be picked up this time by a family of Paraiyars(untouchables). It is said that he later moved to Mylapore(part of Chennai, now) where he worked as a weaver. The name Valluvan might have been a common name representing his caste/occupation rather than his proper name. Even today, the people who earn a living by textile weaving trace their ancestry to the caste of Thiruvalluvar. However, the question of whether the author of Thirukkural (Valluvan) is named after his community or vice versa remains unanswered.

The name Thiruvalluvar (ThiruValluvar) consists of Thiru (a polite Tamil word, similar to Mr, from Sanskrit:Shri)[5] and Valluvar (a polite name for Valluvan, according to Tamil tradition).

There are a few legends abound about the birthplace of Thiruvalluvar. One legend associates him to Madurai, the ancient capital of the Pandya rulers who vigorously promoted Tamil literature. According to another he was born and lived in Mylapore, a part of present day Chennai city and travelled to Madurai to submit his work, the Thirukural, for approval of the king (Pandian) and his college of poets.[6]

There are, also, traditional stories citing the Tamil Sangam of Madurai (the assembly/conference of eminent scholars and researchers conducted on a regular basis) as the authority through which Thirukkural was introduced to the world. Thiruvalluvar might have spent most part of his life in Madurai because it was under Pandia rulers that many Tamil poets flourished. There are also recent claim by Kanyakumari Historical and Cultural Research Centre (KHCRC) that Valluvar was a king who ruled Valluvanadu in the hilly tracts of Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. [7]

The average global air temperature near the Earth's surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the hundred years ending in 2005. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations" via the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward. These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC, the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC's main conclusions. Climate model projections summarized by the IPCC indicate that average global surface temperature will likely rise a further 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) during the twenty-first century The range of values results from the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as models with differing climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a thousand years even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized. The delay in reaching equilibrium is a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans. Increasing global temperature will cause sea level to rise, and is expected to increase the intensity of extreme weather events and to change the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors. Remaining scientific uncertainties include the amount of warming expected in the future, and how warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but there is ongoing political and public debate worldwide regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected consequences.

  1. Worst ever vijay movie after aadhi.. nothing much to speak about the movie and the motive of the movie is known just 20 min into the movie and all the scenes are pretty much predictable. second half of the movie is very disgusting. trisha just has few scenes and appears in 3 songs. seems like the director has thought that having vijay in the movie will work with no story and gooffed up screenplay… may be the director should watch blood diamond and see how that movie has been made.. the plot of the movie has been lifted right from blood diamond and asking vijay to do what di caprio has done in that movie… nothing big in the movie… songs are horrible and worst picturized… see blood diamond movie instead of this movie..

Ernesto "Che" Guevara (May 14, 1928 – October 9, 1967), commonly known as Che Guevara, El Che, or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, politician, author, military theorist, physician, and guerrilla leader. His stylized image also later became a countercultural symbol worldwide.

As a young medical student, Guevara travelled through Latin America and was transformed by the endemic poverty he witnessed. His experiences and observations during these trips led him to conclude that the region's inequalities were a result of capitalism, neo-colonialism, and imperialism, with the only remedy being world revolution. This belief prompted his involvement in Guatemala's social revolution under President Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, whose eventual CIA-assisted overthrow solidified Guevara’s radical ideology.

Later, in Mexico, he joined and was promoted to commander in Fidel Castro’s 26th of July Movement, playing a pivotal role in the successful guerrilla campaign to overthrow the U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. After the Cuban revolution, Guevara served in many prominent governmental positions, including President of the National Bank and “supreme prosecutor” over the revolutionary tribunals and executions of suspected war criminals from the previous regime. Along with traveling to meet world leaders on behalf of Cuban socialism, he was a prolific writer and diarist: his published work includes a manual on the theory and practice of guerrilla warfare. Guevara left Cuba in 1965 to incite revolutions first in an unsuccessful attempt in Congo-Kinshasa and then in Bolivia, where he was captured with help of the CIA and executed.

Both notorious for his harsh discipline and revered for his unwavering dedication to his revolutionary doctrines, Guevara remains a controversial and significant historical figure. Because of his death, invocation to armed class struggle, and romantic visage, Guevara became an icon of leftist revolutionary movements worldwide, as well as a global merchandising sensation. He has been venerated and reviled in dozens of biographies, memoirs, books, essays, documentaries, songs, and films. Time Magazine declared him one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century, while an Alberto Korda photograph of him entitled Guerrillero Heroico (shown), has been declared "the most famous photograph in the world."

Well, it is a fact that May Day, which the children do enjoy with all vibes, is not an overly prominent holiday in America. Yet, it does have a long and notable history as one of the world's principal festivals. The origin of the May Day as a day for celebration dates back to the days, even before the birth of Christ. And like many ancient festivals it too has a Pagan connection.

For the Druids of the British Isles, May 1 was the second most important holiday of the year. Because, it was when the festival of Beltane held. It was thought that the day divides the year into half. The other half was to be ended with the Samhain on November 1. Those days the May Day custom was the setting of new fire. It was one of those ancient New Year rites performed throughout the world. And the fire itself was thought to lend life to the burgeoning springtime sun. Cattle were driven through the fire to purify them. Men, with their sweethearts, passed through the smoke for seeing good luck.

Then the Romans came to occupy the British Isles. The beginning of May was a very popular feast time for the Romans. It was devoted primarily to the worship of Flora, the goddess of flowers. It was in her honor a five day celebration, called the Floralia, was held. The five day festival would start from April 28 and end on May 2. The Romans brought in the rituals of the Floralia festival in the British Isles. And gradually the rituals of the Floralia were added to those of the Beltane. And many of today's customs on the May Day bear a stark similarity with those combined traditions.

May day observance was discouraged during the Puritans. Though, it was relived when the Puritans lost power in England, it didn't have the same robust force. Gradually, it came to be regarded more as a day of joy and merriment for the kids, rather than a day of observing the ancient fertility rights.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, an international tournament for football, that is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. It will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by a nation in the Confederation of African Football, leaving the Oceania Football Confederation as the only FIFA Confederation never to have hosted the event.

Africa was chosen as the host for the 2010 World Cup as part of a new policy to rotate the event between football confederations (This policy was later abandoned in October 2007). Five African nations placed bids to host the 2010 World Cup:

# Flag of Egypt Egypt
# Flag of Libya Libya / Flag of Tunisia Tunisia (co-hosting)
# Flag of Morocco Morocco
# Flag of South Africa South Africa

Following the decision of the FIFA Executive Committee not to allow co-hosted tournaments, Tunisia withdrew from the bidding process. The committee also decided not to consider Libya's solo bid as it no longer met all the stipulations laid down in the official List of Requirements.

After one round of voting, the winning bid was announced by FIFA president Sepp Blatter at a media conference on 15 May 2004 in Zurich. South Africa was awarded the rights to host the tournament, defeating Morocco and Egypt.

Results:

1. Flag of South Africa South Africa, 14 votes
2. Flag of Morocco Morocco, 10 votes
3. Flag of Egypt Egypt, 0 votes

Flag of Tunisia Tunisia withdrew on 8 May 2004 after joint bidding was not allowed

Flag of Libya Libya bid was rejected: bid did not meet the list of requirements and joint bidding was not allowed.

As the host nation, South Africa qualifies automatically. However, South Africa is the first host since 1934 to participate in World Cup qualifiers. This is because the CAF qualifiers will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2010 African Cup of Nations, for which South Africa must qualify separately. Since 2002 the defending champions no longer qualify automatically.

The preliminary draw for the 2010 World Cup was held in Durban, South Africa on 25 November 2007.

Firstly,They're all members of the cat familiar. Second they're all fairly large with the jaguar being the largest and strongest, followed by the leopard, the puma and finally the cheetah. The Puma is a tawny creature found in both the Americas, varying in size according to climate, with the largest recorded ones in the colder parts of Argentina. In North America it is sometimes called a Cougar. It bears a superficial resemblance to its larger cousin the Lion and is sometimes found in mountainous areas, hence the name Mountain Lion. The Jaguar is found in South America and like the Leopard and the Cheetah, it is spotted. However the Jaguar is larger and stronger than either of these, in fact it is the only cat able to kill with a single bite, having the strongest jaws in the Cat family, while only Lions and Tigers are larger in terms of both size and mass. The leopard is the most successful of all feline predators in that its generalist diet, supreme intelligence and absolute stealth makes them able to take on even human adversaries. In India and Africa, people fear the Leopard far more than the Tiger or Lion respectively as a result. The Cheetah, the third of the large spotted cats, is native to Africa and Asia, but most commonly associated with the African savanna and is the fastest of all land animals, being the only cat whose claws cannot retract and appears therefore to be more doglike. It even chases down prey more often than stalking it. Cheetahs are easily tamed and were once used to accompany Moghul kings on hunting trips. The above three cats differ from each other in habitat, prey species, behaviour and colouration. A jaguar inhabits the jungles or rainforests of South America, while both Leopards and Cheetahs prefer the plains of Africa and Asia. Both Jagaurs and Leopards have been known to climb trees to rest and keep their prey safe from other roving predators such as wild dogs, hyenas and lions. Confusingly they're both referred to as Panthers in literature, added to by the fact that both can have black mutations (only possible if both parents are black). Jaguars (like Tigers) enjoy swimming and have shorter tails than Leopards who prefer the Savannas and need the tails to aid in balance while running down their prey. Jaguars also have more muscular bodies. Cheetahs can be thought of as the sprint athletes with thin bodies and individual black ,dots as opposed to Jaguars and Leopards with their black circles witj brown centres and heavyweight boxer or wrestler build. The Cheetah' s head is smaller and has a black line running along the nose. Finally the mutation that one finds in Cheetahs is called the King Cheetah and results from the spots fusing into 'lines' or 'stripes', in my opinion a relic from the days when they were creatures that needed to do more stalking.

Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, Mammootty, Mohanlal for Dasavatharam's Audio launch.
The great legent Jackie chan is to release the dasavatharam audios of the great legend KamalHasan.
This is to be scheduled on 25th april. Malika Sherawat would be also present in the audio release.
The gorgeous setting at the stadium would resemble the Hollywood auditorium where the Oscar awards are presented.Music direction has also suffered a setback. Himmesh Reshammiya has not done the music score for the film. He has composed five songs and remixed one. After three songs, Reshammiya, an actor himself, could not work full time.
Keep watching this area for more information.
